Four days a year, the Principality closes around its circuit. Streets become grandstands, access points shut, and arriving on time stops being a given.

From Thursday to Sunday the layout cuts straight through the Principality: Sainte-Dévote, the climb to the Casino, the tunnel, the harbour chicane, La Rascasse. Those streets are closed, and with them half the usual routes.
The palaces are full, the quays of Port Hercule are packed with yachts, helicopters land continuously at Fontvieille and traffic on the lower corniche doubles. A chauffeur unfamiliar with that arrangement will make you miss the practice sessions.
